I'm Addicted

I'm addicted to baking sourdough bread. And as you can see, I'm getting better at it.
No, I'm not going to quit my job and open a bakery.

Homemade Sourdough Bread

I got out my sourdough start last night, fed it, and went to bed. My mom told me to add a little honey to the start to jump-start it a little. When I got up, the sourdough sponge was flowing over the top of my crock and onto the counter. Jump-start is right I guess. So I cleaned that up and started some bread dough.
















I used my mom's secret recipe. It rose in a warm oven for about 2 hours and then I formed a big loaf and let it rise again for about an hour. Then while it was baking I spritzed it with water to give it that chewy crust. It looks great and the house smells amazing. I don't know how I'm going to eat it all, by myself.... :) I guess Bells will be glad to help out....

Instrument Tryouts

This past week Brooke and her classmates picked out their favorite band instruments. They saw demonstrations of several instruments and compared their sounds. She had to list her top three instruments. Her first one was the trombone. Choices two and three were clarinet and flute. They will start taking lessons this summer.

Slime and Doc Gizmo

Brooke came home from a science fair at the local college excited about a bouncy ball and slime she had made. The kids did some chemistry experiments and watched Doc Gizmo with his fun science tricks.
